When the Haryana Police Telecommunication Wing announced 400 Special Police Officer (SPO) posts in August 2026, the headlines did what headlines do: “No exam! ₹20,000 per month! 12th pass can apply!” Here is what most portals buried in paragraph six: being 12th pass qualified nobody on its own. This engagement was open only to ex-servicemen of the Armed Forces and CAPFs (minimum five years of service) and ex-constables of the disbanded HSISF/HAP battalions. If you were an ordinary civilian with a 12th certificate, you were never in the race — the press notice said so on page one.
The walk-in window has closed. What follows is the complete record of the notification, the mistakes that got applications rejected, and what to keep ready for the next drive.

Important Dates — All Closed
- Press notice issued: 18 August 2026 (Tuesday)
- Walk-in / document submission: 24–27 August 2026, district-wise (schedule below)
- Reporting time: 9:00 AM onwards on each scheduled date
- Status: CLOSED
Eligibility: The Rule Everyone Misunderstood
The notice laid down two gates, and you had to pass both. This is where most disappointed candidates went wrong.
Gate 1 — Service background (mandatory)
- Ex-servicemen of the Armed Forces or CAPFs — Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB — with at least 5 years of completed service.
- Ex-constables of the disbanded Haryana State Industrial Security Force (HSISF) or Haryana Armed Police (HAP) battalions.
Gate 2 — Discharge record (mandatory)
- Medical category at discharge: ‘A’. Anything lower meant disqualification.
- Character certificate at discharge: ‘Exemplary’ or ‘Outstanding’. ‘Good’ or ‘Satisfactory’ did not qualify.
- Not removed or dismissed for indiscipline, misconduct or medical unfitness.
- No pending criminal case in any court (declared via affidavit).
- Not previously appointed as an SPO in any other district of Haryana.
Who should NOT have applied: ordinary civilian 12th-pass candidates with no service background (the single biggest misunderstanding of this drive), ex-servicemen with under 5 years of service, anyone discharged below medical category ‘A’ or below ‘Exemplary’ character, and anyone dismissed for indiscipline.
Age Limit
| Criteria | Details |
|---|---|
| Minimum Age | 25 years |
| Maximum Age | 50 years |
| Reckoning Date | As on the date of advertisement — 18 August 2026 |
The application form’s category options were General, BC-A, BC-B and SC as per Haryana classification.
Application Fee
Selection Process — No Written or Physical Test
Unusually for a police recruitment, there was no written examination and no physical test. Selection ran on paperwork, verification and personal appearance:
- Walk-in appearance on the district’s fixed date with the filled form, originals, attested photocopies, affidavit and photographs.
- Document verification — service, qualification, age and category certificates checked against issuing authorities.
- Interview at the venue.
- Medical examination before the appointment letter.
- Character & antecedent verification through the district police authority.
- 15-day capsule course to reorient appointees to police department requirements.
How the Walk-in Worked (For the Record)
There was no online form and no postal submission. Candidates had to appear only on the date assigned to their home district — no cross-day applications, no applications after the district’s date, and no TA/DA for attending.
| Walk-in Date | Districts |
|---|---|
| 24 August 2026 (Monday) | Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal |
| 25 August 2026 (Tuesday) | Sonepat, Panipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri |
| 26 August 2026 (Wednesday) | Gurugram, Faridabad, Nuh (Mewat), Palwal, Rewari, Narnaul (Mahendragarh) |
| 27 August 2026 (Thursday) | Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Hansi, Jind, Dabwali |
Documents & Affidavit Checklist

- Service record and discharge certificate (medical category ‘A’, ‘Exemplary/Outstanding’ character)
- 10+2 certificate, age proof, category certificate
- Duly sworn affidavit in the prescribed format — residence, service status, no pending criminal case, no prior SPO appointment in another Haryana district, willingness to serve under department rules
- Aadhaar, PAN and bank passbook photocopies; 4 passport-size colour photographs
- Originals plus one set of attested photocopies of everything above

| TA/DA on Official Tour | ₹150 per day |

5 Mistakes That Got Applications Rejected
- Assuming 12th pass was enough. Civilians with no service background were turned away at the gate — the service requirement was non-negotiable.
- Coming on the wrong district’s date. Cross-day applications were not entertained, full stop.
- Weak discharge paperwork. Medical category below ‘A’ or character below ‘Exemplary/Outstanding’ failed the first document check.
- Missing or defective affidavit. The affidavit was not optional paperwork — it was the declaration covering criminal cases, prior SPO appointments and service status.
- Expecting TA/DA. No fee, no travel allowance for attending — candidates who arrived expecting reimbursement were disappointed twice over.
Missed This Drive? How to Catch the Next One
SPO engagements under Section 21 are announced wing-wise with very short windows — this one gave barely six days between the press notice (18 August) and the first walk-in (24 August). To not miss the next one:
- Watch the recruitment/press-release section of the official Haryana Police website regularly, especially July–September.
- Keep a ready folder now: discharge certificate, 10+2 certificate, Aadhaar, PAN, bank passbook copy, category certificate and 4–6 passport photos — the document list barely changes between drives.
- Signal Corps veterans: keep that service record highlighted — it carries explicit preference in telecom-wing engagements.
- Join the site’s WhatsApp channel via the links below — drives with 6-day windows are exactly the updates you cannot afford to discover late.
