Indian Bank Apprentices Recruitment 2026: 1,500 Posts, Apply 5 to 25 November
Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has opened applications for 80 apprenticeship seats at its Narora Atomic Power Station in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The intake covers three streams — 50 Trade Apprentice seats for ITI holders, 16 Diploma Apprentice seats and 14 Graduate Apprentice seats — and the online window runs from 29 October 2026 (10:00 hrs) to 18 November 2026 (16:00 hrs). The advertisement number is NAPS/HRM/APPRENTICE/02/2026.
What makes this drive different from most government openings is what it does not have: there is no written exam. Selection is on merit — your percentage of marks in the relevant trade or discipline — followed by document verification. That also means the form itself, and the order in which you fill it, matters more than usual. Get the portal registration wrong and the application is not accepted at all, however good your marks are.
Important dates: Online applications open 29 October 2026 at 10:00 hrs and close 18 November 2026 at 16:00 hrs. The closing date, 18 November 2026, is also the cut-off date for age and for every other eligibility condition. Training lasts a maximum of 12 months at Narora Atomic Power Station, Narora, PO NAPS Township, District Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh – 203389.
NPCIL Apprentice Vacancy Details 2026
The 80 seats are split across 12 trades and disciplines. ITI Electrician alone accounts for 25 seats — nearly a third of the whole intake — while Civil diploma (6 seats) is the largest diploma discipline and Mechanical leads the graduate stream.
| Apprentice Type | Trade / Discipline | Seats | Stipend per Month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trade Apprentice | ITI Electrician | 25 | Rs. 10,560 (one-year ITI course); Rs. 11,040 (two-year ITI course) |
| Trade Apprentice | ITI Fitter | 16 | Rs. 10,560 (one-year ITI course); Rs. 11,040 (two-year ITI course) |

| Total | 80 | — | |
Category-wise, the 80 seats break down as 35 UR, 21 OBC (NCL), 16 SC, 8 EWS and no ST seats in this intake. Seats reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are included within these numbers; the official notice gives the trade-wise break-up. Two details are easy to miss: the ITI stipend depends on the length of your ITI course (Rs. 10,560 after a one-year course, Rs. 11,040 after a two-year course), and no application fee is specified in the official notification.
Who Can Apply: Eligibility, Age and the 5-Year Rule
| Apprentice Type | Qualification Required | Age as on 18 November 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Trade Apprentice | ITI Pass Certificate in Electrician, Fitter or Electronics Mechanic | 18 to 24 years |
| Diploma Apprentice | Diploma in engineering/technology in the relevant discipline, from a State Board/Council of Technical Education, a University, or a recognised institute | 18 to 25 years |
| Graduate Apprentice (Mechanical, Electrical) | Degree in engineering/technology in the relevant discipline, or an equivalent professional-body examination | 18 to 26 years |
| Graduate Apprentice (HR, Finance & Accounts, Contract & Material Management) | Graduate or equivalent in a general stream such as BBA, BA, B.Sc. or B.Com. (other than engineering/technology) | 18 to 26 years |
The qualification must have been earned through a full-time, regular course. Here is the trap for diploma and degree holders: you must have passed your qualifying examination within 5 years of 18 November 2026. That recency condition applies to Diploma and Graduate Apprentices through the NATS portal — it does not apply to ITI Trade Apprentices in the same way, so do not assume a 2019 diploma still qualifies. Age relaxation applies as per government rules: SC/ST up to 5 years, OBC (NCL) up to 3 years, and PwBD candidates up to 10 years (General/EWS), 15 years (SC/ST) and 13 years (OBC-NCL), with a minimum 40% disability.
You cannot apply if you have already completed, or are currently doing, an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in any government body, PSU or private organisation — or if you left an earlier apprenticeship incomplete. Candidates must also meet the physical fitness standards in the notice (minimum height 137 cm, weight 25.4 kg, chest expansion at least 3.8 cm) and be declared medically fit; any evidence of tuberculosis, active or healed, disqualifies a candidate.
The 16 km Local Preference — Read This Before You Assume You Are Out
Eligible candidates living within 16 km of Narora Atomic Power Station get first preference, subject to the reservation rules. If there are not enough eligible local candidates in a category, candidates from outside the area are considered on merit. So a candidate from elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh — or another state — is not barred; you simply join the pool after local candidates in your category. If you do live within 16 km, keep residential proof ready: you will need it both at registration and at verification, and it is the one document outsiders cannot arrange at the last minute.
Selection: No Exam, But a Strict Merit Tie-Break
The shortlist is based purely on the percentage of marks in the respective trade or discipline. If two candidates have the same percentage, the one born earlier ranks higher. If the date of birth is also the same, the higher Matriculation (Class 10) percentage decides. Two practical consequences follow. First, enter your marks exactly as they appear on your mark sheets — rounding up a percentage is the kind of mismatch document verification catches. Second, if your result is in CGPA, GPA, SGPA or letter grades, upload the conversion table issued by your institute; if your institute has no conversion formula, NPCIL applies its own equivalents (for example, 6.5 on a 10-point scale equals 60%).
Apprenticeship is not a job guarantee. Under the Apprentices Act, 1961, NPCIL is not obliged to offer a job to anyone who completes the training, and apprentices have no right to claim one. The contract ends when the training period ends. Treat this as a year of paid, hands-on training inside a nuclear power station — valuable on any later application — not as a back door into a permanent NPCIL post.
How to Apply: The Two-Step Process Most Applicants Get Wrong
This is the section to follow in order, because the NPCIL form is the second step, not the first:
Step 1 — Register on the right national portal. Trade Apprentices register on the NAPS 2.0 portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in). Diploma and Graduate Apprentices register on the NATS 2.0 portal (nats.education.gov.in). Complete the portal registration and get your registration number first.
Step 2 — Apply to the correct establishment. On the same portal, apply to Narora Atomic Power Station, NPCIL using its Establishment Enrollment ID. Trade Apprentices use E05200901473. Diploma and Graduate Apprentices use NUPBUC093592. Applications made under the wrong establishment ID will not be accepted — this is the single most common avoidable rejection in apprentice drives, so double-check the ID before submitting.
Step 3 — Fill the NPCIL online application on the NPCIL careers website between 29 October 2026 (10:00 hrs) and 18 November 2026 (16:00 hrs). Make sure your Aadhaar is seeded with your bank account, since the stipend is paid through it. Upload a colour photograph in JPG format, no larger than 50 KB, between 240 x 180 and 640 x 480 pixels, with a light (preferably white) background; and a scanned signature in JPG format, no larger than 20 KB, between 80 x 200 and 160 x 560 pixels. Use a personal email ID and mobile number that will stay active until selection is over — neither can be changed after registration.
Documents to keep ready: birth certificate or Class 10 certificate/mark sheet, Class 10 mark sheet, ITI/Diploma/Degree certificate and all semester/year mark sheets, CGPA conversion certificate if applicable, residential proof (for the 16 km preference), caste certificate in Government of India format (OBC candidates need a recent non-creamy layer certificate), Income and Assets Certificate valid for 2026-27 (EWS), disability certificate if applicable, police verification certificate from the District Police Authority, Aadhaar, PAN and bank account details, and 2 recent passport-size photographs. At verification, self-attested copies plus originals and the signed application form are required. Candidature stays provisional until certificates are verified, and false information, hidden facts or an irrelevant photograph can lead to disqualification and a ban from apprenticeship at NPCIL.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is there a written exam for NPCIL Apprentice 2026?
No. The notice describes only a merit shortlist based on trade/discipline marks, followed by document verification with originals.
Q. I finished my diploma six years ago. Can I apply?
No — Diploma and Graduate Apprentices must have passed their qualifying exam within 5 years of 18 November 2026.
Q. I live outside Bulandshahr. Should I still apply?
Yes. Local candidates within 16 km get first preference, but if there are not enough eligible local candidates in a category, outside candidates are considered on merit.
Q. I already did an apprenticeship in a private company. Am I eligible?
No. Anyone who has completed, or is currently doing, an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961 anywhere cannot apply.
Q. Will I get a permanent NPCIL job after training?
No. NPCIL is not obliged to offer employment after the apprenticeship, and completing it gives no right to claim a job.
Q. What is the last date and time to apply?
18 November 2026 at 16:00 hrs. Do not leave it to the final evening — portal registrations on NAPS/NATS must be completed first, and that step alone can take time if documents need rescanning.
