Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) opens online applications today, Wednesday 28 October 2026, at 2:00 pm, for 350 Probationary Engineer posts in E-II grade — 200 in Electronics and 150 in Mechanical. The window opens at 2:00 pm today and closes at 11:59 pm on Wednesday 18 November 2026, and the whole process runs through BEL’s official website, bel-india.in. If you are a B.E./B.Tech engineering graduate in Electronics or Mechanical, this is one of the biggest Navratna PSU engineer openings of the year — but read the eligibility fine print before you pay the fee, because BEL rejects equivalent and dual-specialisation degrees outright.
BEL is a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Defence and describes itself as India’s premier professional electronics company, with products spanning radars, naval systems, weapon systems, electronic warfare and homeland security. These 350 posts are in the Production and Support Services departments of BEL units and offices across India, and the figure includes backlog vacancies — so the final discipline-wise numbers can still move up or down at management’s discretion.

Of the 350 posts, 45 are earmarked for persons with benchmark disabilities, including 32 backlog vacancies — 27 in Electronics and 18 in Mechanical. If you are applying under a PwBD sub-category, check the disability-suitability list in the official notification carefully: the suitable disabilities differ slightly between Electronics and Mechanical, and a mismatch at document verification ends the candidature.
Eligibility: The First-Class Rule and the Branch-Match Trap
Electronics: B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (4-year) Engineering in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Communication, or Telecommunication.
Mechanical: B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (4-year) Engineering in Mechanical.
Three conditions here catch applicants out every year, and BEL states all three plainly:
1. First class is mandatory for UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS. Your degree must be first class from an AICTE-approved college in one of the listed disciplines. Candidates with a first class in AMIE, AMIETE or GIETE in the same disciplines are also eligible. SC/ST/PwBD candidates need only a pass class — that is the one relaxation in the qualification rule.
2. Equivalent disciplines and dual specialisations will NOT be considered. If your degree is in a related-but-different branch, BEL will not accept it, even if another PSU would. And if the specialisation printed on your degree certificate does not tally with the branch you enter in the application, you will not be considered for interview.
3. CGPA candidates must carry the conversion formula. If your university awards grades (CGPA/GPI/SGPA), the percentage is worked out using your institute’s own conversion formula, and you must produce that conversion certificate or formula at interview time. Failing to submit it means disqualification — so arrange it now, not in December.
Only Indian nationals are eligible. If you are unsure whether your exact degree title counts, the safe move is to check the official notification’s discipline list before paying the non-refundable fee.
Age Limit and Relaxations (as on 1 October 2026)
| Category | Maximum age |
|---|---|
| Unreserved / EWS | 25 years |
| OBC (NCL) | 28 years (25 + 3) |
| SC / ST | 30 years (25 + 5) |
| PwBD | 35 years (25 + 10) |
| PwBD + OBC (NCL) | 38 years |
| PwBD + SC/ST | 40 years |
| Ex-servicemen | 25 + 5 years, as per government guidelines |
For PwBD candidates from SC/ST/OBC (NCL) categories, the PwBD relaxation is in addition to the category relaxation. Proof of age is accepted only as the Board certificate for Matriculation or Higher Secondary showing the date of birth — or, if that certificate does not show the date of birth, a birth certificate from the competent authority.
Pay, Training and the 2-Year Service Agreement
The E-II pay scale is Rs. 40,000 – 3% – Rs. 1,40,000, with an approximate CTC of Rs. 13 lakh per annum. On top of basic pay come DA, HRA, conveyance allowance, performance-related pay, medical reimbursement and other admissible perquisites. One useful detail: the basic pay scale is due for revision with effect from 1 January 2027, so the scale quoted in the advertisement is not the final long-term figure.
Selected candidates first undergo six months of orientation and on-the-job training. After that comes the part many applicants skim past: you must sign a service agreement to serve BEL for 2 years, and the amount payable for breaching that agreement is Rs. 2,00,000. Treat this as a two-year commitment, not a stepping stone you can leave in six months without cost. Posting can be to any BEL unit or office in India — the advertised locations include Bengaluru, Ghaziabad, Pune, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ibrahimpatnam, Chennai, Palasamudram, Nimmaluru, Machilipatnam, Panchkula and Kotdwara — and BEL can move you between sections, departments or units at its discretion.
Selection: CBT (85) + Interview (15) — and the 1:5 Shortlist
Selection has two stages, and the weighting matters: the computer based test carries 85 marks and the interview 15. Your final merit is on the combined score, but you must also clear separate minimum qualifying marks in each stage — 35% for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 30% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, in the CBT and in the interview separately. A strong CBT does not rescue a below-threshold interview, or vice versa.
Only candidates shortlisted from the CBT go to interview, in a ratio of 1:5, discipline-wise and category-wise. The interview shortlist is published on the BEL website in query mode — no call letters are sent by email or post for the CBT either, so you must log in with your credentials to download your CBT call letter. Outstation interview candidates get reimbursement of to-and-fro AC Chair Car or III Tier AC train fare by the shortest route. Both the CBT and the interview can be taken in English or Hindi.
CBT Exam Pattern
| Part | Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | Technical | 100 | 100 |
| Part 2 | General Aptitude and Reasoning | 25 | 25 |
| Total | 125 | 125 | |
The test runs 120 minutes in total. Each question carries 1 mark, 1/4th of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer, and unattempted or marked-for-review questions earn nothing. The paper is bilingual (English and Hindi only), and if the Hindi version has any error or variation, the English version is treated as valid. The tentative CBT date is 22 December 2026, but BEL reserves the right to change it.
One practical point: you must choose 5 CBT test centres nearest to your correspondence address when you apply. Centres are allotted on availability, the list is tentative and not exhaustive, and no request to change the centre, city or state is allowed afterwards. Choose those five carefully — you cannot fix a careless choice later.
Application Fee — Non-refundable, and One Warning
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| GEN / EWS / OBC (NCL) | Rs. 1,180 (Rs. 1,000 + GST) |
| SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-servicemen | Exempted |
The fee is paid online through the SBI e-Pay Lite gateway — debit or credit card, net banking, wallets or UPI — by 18 November 2026 (11:59 pm). BEL is explicit that a fee once paid is never refunded and never adjusted against another recruitment, and that an application from a fee-liable candidate without the fee received is rejected outright. BEL also states it charges no fee and asks for no money deposit at any other stage of this recruitment — if anyone asks you for money outside the official payment step, that is not BEL.
How to Apply Online (28 October – 18 November 2026)
Step 1 — Keep ready: a valid personal email ID and mobile number (both must stay active for the whole recruitment), a scanned passport-size colour photograph, a scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format, and the other documents the advertisement asks for.
Step 2 — Register: click the registration link for this advertisement on bel-india.in, fill in personal and contact details, generate OTPs, and verify both the mobile and email OTPs. Accept the declaration, re-verify, and submit — your Application Sequence Number (User ID) and password arrive by email and SMS.
Step 3 — Apply: log in, fill in personal, additional, communication, qualification and declaration details, and choose your 5 CBT centres. Upload your photograph, signature and documents, preview the form, correct any error, and submit — details cannot be edited after submission.
Step 4 — Pay (if applicable): complete the SBI e-Pay Lite payment and keep the payment acknowledgement slip.
Step 5 — Print: press PRINT and save or print the submitted application form as a PDF. The print option will not be available after the last date, so do not leave this for later.
