The SSC Selection Post Phase 14 Answer Key 2026 is out, and if you sat in the Phase-XIV/2026 computer-based exam, the clock is already ticking louder than you think. The Staff Selection Commission released the tentative answer key and individual response sheets on 9 October 2026 — but the objection window closes on 12 October 2026 at 4:00 PM. That is barely three days to download your sheet, re-check your answers, and challenge anything the key got wrong.

This guide walks you through downloading the answer key from ssc.gov.in, the one trap in the challenge module that is confusing candidates right now, how to raise an objection properly (₹50 per question), and how to estimate your score before the result arrives.

⏳ Only 3 days. The objection window runs from 9 October 2026, 4:00 PM to 12 October 2026, 4:00 PM. Objections are accepted online only — anything submitted after 4:00 PM on 12 October will not be entertained. Do not wait until the last evening; portal traffic spikes on deadline days. Download your response sheet today and compare it line by line.

The Question-Order Trap: Read This Before You Panic

Here is the detail tripping up candidates this week. When you open the challenge module on the SSC portal, the question order will look different from the order you saw during the exam. Your actual exam showed questions in a shuffled sequence; the challenge module shows one fixed sequence of questions and options for all candidates of a shift.

So if question 37 in your memory was the polity question, but the module shows a reasoning question at number 37 — that is normal, not an error. What matters is that the options you selected during the exam are shown correctly against each question. Verify the option letters you marked, not the question numbers. If you start “correcting” based on remembered numbering alone, you will end up paying ₹50 for challenges that were never real mistakes.

How to Download the Answer Key and Response Sheet

  1. Go to the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in.
  2. Log in with your Registration Number and password.
  3. Open the Answer Key / Challenge Management section.
  4. Click the link for Phase-XIV/2026 Selection Posts Examination: Tentative Answer Keys.
  5. Accept the undertaking that the question paper is for personal use and self-analysis only.
  6. Your response sheet and the tentative answer key will appear on screen — download the file and take a printout.
Note: the saved question paper is meant for personal use and self-analysis only — the undertaking you accept during download says so explicitly. The response sheet comes with your own marked answers next to the key, which is all you need to re-check and challenge.

How to Raise an Objection (₹50 Per Question — Spend It Wisely)

If you believe an answer in the tentative key is wrong, you can challenge it online before 12 October 2026, 4:00 PM. Each challenged question costs ₹50, paid online. Steps:

  1. Log in to the SSC portal.
  2. Open the Challenge / Objection Management link for Phase-XIV/2026.
  3. Select the question or questions you want to challenge.
  4. Enter your suggested answer and upload supporting documents or a written justification.
  5. Pay the ₹50 fee for each question challenged.
  6. Submit before the deadline — late objections are rejected outright.

A word of strategy: ₹50 a question adds up fast, and a vague “I think this is wrong” challenge buys you nothing. Challenge only where you can back it up — a reference from an NCERT, a standard textbook, or an official document you can actually upload as proof. The final answer key is prepared only after valid objections are reviewed, and you cannot challenge the final answer key. The tentative key is your one and only shot.

Rules that are non-negotiable:

  • Objections are accepted online only — no email, no letters, no phone calls.
  • Anything submitted after 12 October 2026, 4:00 PM will not be entertained.
  • The final answer key is prepared after reviewing valid objections; it cannot be challenged.

Estimate Your Score Before the Result Arrives

The Phase-XIV/2026 exam carried 100 questions for 200 marks, with negative marking. Use this scheme on your downloaded response sheet:

Particulars Marks
Total questions 100
Total marks 200
Correct answer +2
Wrong answer −0.50
Unattempted 0

Formula: Total marks = (Correct answers × 2) − (Wrong answers × 0.50)

Example: suppose you attempted 88 questions — 74 correct and 14 wrong (12 left blank). Your estimated score = (74 × 2) − (14 × 0.50) = 148 − 7 = 141 marks. This is only an estimate: the key is tentative, and your score will move if SSC revises any answer after reviewing objections.

What Happens After the Answer Key

  1. The objection window closes on 12 October 2026, 4:00 PM.
  2. SSC reviews the valid objections.
  3. The final answer key is released.
  4. The result and category-wise cut-off marks follow.
  5. Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification.

Keep your registration details handy and check the official website for updates — the result and cut-offs are the next milestone after the final key.
