ONGC Apprentice Recruitment 2026: 3047 Posts, Apply Online
The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board — MPESB, the body everyone still calls MP Vyapam — has reopened the online application window for the Group-3 Sub Engineer, Draftsman/Cartographer (Sahayak Manchitrakar), Laboratory Technician, Technical Assistant, Surveyor and other equivalent posts Combined Recruitment Test 2026 (Second). Candidates who missed the original August–September window get one more chance: online forms are open from 13 October to 27 October 2026 on the official portal esb.mp.gov.in.
And this is not a simple reopening. The revised notice dated 9 October 2026 has increased the vacancies from 1,700 to 1,715 — fifteen additional Sub Engineer (Civil) posts under the Tribal Affairs Department have been folded into the drive. Most job portals still show the old 1,700 figure, so read the vacancy table below carefully if you are deciding your category and post code.

Vacancy Details — 1,715 Posts (Not 1,700)
This is where most other websites are currently wrong. The original notification carried 1,700 posts; the 9 October 2026 revised notice added 15 Sub Engineer (Civil) posts under the Tribal Affairs Department (post code 123 — direct recruitment, now 42 posts in that code). The revised category-wise split is:
| Category | Posts |
|---|---|
| Unreserved (UR) | 634 |
| EWS | 147 |
| OBC | 431 |
| SC | 247 |
| ST | 256 |
| Total | 1,715 |
The older 628/146/426/246/254 split you see on many sites was the 1,700-post figure — the numbers moved in every category, so do not plan your application around the stale table.
The Post-Code Maze — Pick the Right Post Code, Not Just the Right Exam
This recruitment runs through 131 post codes spread across MP government departments — Sub Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Draftsman/Cartographer (Sahayak Manchitrakar), Laboratory Technician, Technical Assistant, Surveyor and other equivalent posts. The qualification changes with the post type, and this is where the real decision sits:
- Sub Engineer — 3-year Diploma or Degree in the relevant engineering branch.
- Draftsman / Cartographer — ITI in Draftsmanship or a relevant Diploma.
- Laboratory Technician — Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in the relevant discipline.
- Surveyor and Technical Assistant — relevant surveying/technical qualification as prescribed for the post code.
One more mandatory line from the revised notice: candidates must hold a live registration with the MP Employment Office — without it, the application is incomplete.
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)
| Category | Age limit |
|---|---|
| Minimum (all categories) | 18 years |
| Unreserved / EWS | 40 years |
| MP-domicile SC / ST / OBC / PwBD / all women / government employees / home guards | 45 years |
Two traps here. First, the 45-year relaxation applies to MP-domicile candidates in those categories — other-state candidates fall under the unreserved terms. Second, EWS gets no age relaxation; the 40-year ceiling stands for EWS even though the fee concession includes EWS. The absolute cap is 45 regardless of combined relaxations.
Application Fee — The Base and the Portal Charge Are Separate
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| Unreserved / other-state candidates | Rs. 500/- per paper |
| MP-domicile SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwBD | Rs. 250/- per paper |
| Backlog direct-recruitment posts | No fee |
| MP Online portal charges (extra) | Rs. 60/- via kiosk, Rs. 20/- via registered citizen login |
| Correction charge | Rs. 20/- |
This is why some sites show Rs. 560 and Rs. 310: that is the kiosk total (base fee + Rs. 60 portal charge) for the two main categories. Apply through a registered citizen login and the portal charge drops to Rs. 20 — a small saving, but on a 1,715-post drive the applicants who know this are the ones who don’t overpay at the kiosk counter.
Selection Process and CBT Pattern
Selection is a single Computer Based Test followed by document verification and medical examination — no interview stage. The CBT, per the revised notice, runs 200 marks in 3 hours, in Hindi or English medium, in two shifts (morning 09:00–12:00, afternoon 14:30–17:30), with objective-type questions of four options each:
| Section | Marks |
|---|---|
| General: GK, Hindi, English, Maths, Science, Reasoning, Computer | 100 |
| Subject (technical) related questions | 100 |
| Total | 200 |
The paper is scheduled to start 20 January 2027 (Wednesday) and run across exam centres in MP, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Neemuch, Ratlam, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Sidhi and Ujjain. The even 100–100 split means the general section alone is half the battle — ITI and Diploma holders who focus only on their trade subject are leaving 100 marks of GK, maths and reasoning on the table.
Pay Scale
Pay runs from Level 4 (Rs. 19,500–62,000) up to Level 8 (Rs. 32,800–1,03,600), post-code-wise. During probation, stipend is paid at 70%, 80% and 90% of the minimum pay across the three years — check the rulebook for the exact probation terms of your post code.
How to Apply Online (13–27 October 2026)
- Go to esb.mp.gov.in and open the Group-3 2026 (Second) application link.
- Register with a valid mobile number and email; note your application number — you will need it for admit card download and corrections.
- Fill the form, selecting the correct post code matching your qualification.
- Upload the photo, signature and documents in the prescribed format and size.
- Pay the fee online (debit/credit card, net banking, IMPS, wallet) or at an MP Online kiosk.
- Submit before 27 October 2026; use the correction window (up to 28 October, Rs. 20) to fix mistakes instead of filing a duplicate form.
Mistakes That Will Cost You This Application
- Applying under the wrong post code. Sub Engineer needs Diploma/Degree; Draftsman accepts ITI. A mismatch means rejection at document verification — after the CBT.
- Assuming EWS gets age relaxation. It doesn’t. Only fee concession.
- Missing the employment-office registration. The revised notice makes a live MP Employment Office registration mandatory for every post.
- Forgetting the fee is per paper. Multiple papers mean multiple fees.
- Waiting till 27 October night. Portal load spikes on the last day every year; the correction window exists, but a crashed submission at 11:59 PM is nobody’s responsibility.
- Losing the application number. Without it you cannot download the admit card or open the correction window.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I applied in the August–September window. Do I need to apply again?
Check the revised notice of 9 October 2026 on esb.mp.gov.in before doing anything — reopen windows are meant for candidates who missed the first window, and duplicate applications can create their own problems. The notice is the only authority on this.
Q: Is the total really 1,715 posts? Many sites say 1,700.
Yes, 1,715 is the revised figure. The 9 October 2026 revised notice added 15 Sub Engineer (Civil) posts under the Tribal Affairs Department. Sites still showing 1,700 are on the old table.
Q: Can other-state candidates apply?
Yes, but on unreserved terms — full Rs. 500 fee per paper and the 18–40 age band, without MP-domicile relaxations.
Q: When is the exam?
The revised notice schedules the CBT from 20 January 2027 onwards. Treat this as the board’s current plan and watch esb.mp.gov.in for the admit card announcement.
Q: Is there an interview?
No. CBT, then document verification, then medical.
