Rajasthan Safai Karamchari Recruitment 2026: 24,752 Posts — Last Date Extended to 28 Oct, Apply Online

Post Date: 13 Oct 2026 Updated: 13 Oct 2026 By: Raju

UPDATE (13 Oct 2026): The LSG Department, Rajasthan has extended the last date for online applications from 13 October to 28 October 2026 (11:59 PM). All other terms of Advt. No. 01/2026 remain unchanged.

The Department of Local Self Government (Swayatt Shasan Vibhag), Rajasthan has reopened the conversation around one of the largest sanitation-worker recruitments the state has seen. Under Advertisement No. 01/2026, 24,752 contractual Safai Karamchari (Sanitation Worker) posts are spread across 183 Urban Local Bodies — 24,277 in Non-TSP areas and 475 in TSP areas. The original application window (15 August to 28 September 2026) was extended by a signed corrigendum dated 24 September 2026, pushing the closing date to 13 October 2026 — and the department has now extended the deadline further to 28 October 2026 (11:59 PM). This article explains the extension story, the unusual lottery-based selection, and the one-ULB rule that quietly rejects a large share of applications every cycle.

The Extension Story — Last Date Extended to 28 October 2026

Most job portals have moved on to fresh recruitments, which is exactly why this one deserves your attention. The department issued the advertisement on 27 July 2026, accepted online applications from 15 August 2026, and was supposed to close on 28 September 2026. Instead, the Director’s office issued a signed notice on 24 September 2026 — one week before the original deadline — extending the last date for online applications to 13 October 2026, and the department has now extended it further to 28 October 2026 (11:59 PM).

That notice keeps every other condition of the advertisement unchanged: the same posts, the same eligibility, the same process. What it changes is the deadline. Candidates who skipped the September window thinking it had closed — or who missed it entirely — have another chance with the new 28 October 2026 deadline. Apply before 11:59 PM on 28 October 2026; do not wait for the last hours.

All 24,752 posts are contractual, governed by the Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022. The department has published the vacancies ULB by ULB in the official notification — but you must read the notification for your own ULB’s exact figure before choosing where to apply. Which brings us to the rule that matters most.

The One-ULB Rule — Where Most Applications Die

This is the single most misunderstood condition of the entire advertisement. You are allowed to apply to only ONE Urban Local Body. Applications submitted to more than one ULB are liable to be rejected. The rule is not a suggestion — it is an automatic filter.

Think carefully before you pick. Your ULB choice determines where your name enters the lottery, and you cannot spread your bets across two or three nearby towns. Most candidates apply where they live or where they have the 1-year experience (see eligibility below) — both are sensible reasons. What you must not do is file forms for multiple ULBs “just in case.” That single shortcut can wipe out an otherwise valid application.

Eligibility — No Degree, But Two Non-Negotiable Conditions

Educational Qualification: No educational qualification has been prescribed for this contractual post. You do not need to be 10th pass, 12th pass, or anything else on paper. That makes this one of the rare 24,000-plus vacancy drives with no degree barrier at all.

Rajasthan Domicile (mandatory): You must be a domicile (mool niwasi) of Rajasthan. Out-of-state candidates cannot claim this post — the domicile requirement is explicit and non-negotiable.

One year of sanitation work experience (mandatory): You must have one year of experience as a sanitation worker, and that experience should be in a ULB context. This is the real filter of the recruitment. No degree is asked, but experience is — and it will be checked at document verification. If you cannot produce credible proof of one year of sanitation work, the rest of your application does not matter.

Age Limit (as on 1 January 2027)

CategoryAge Limit
Minimum age (all candidates)21 years
Maximum age (all candidates)40 years
Age relaxationAs per Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022

Note the cut-off date carefully: age is counted as on 1 January 2027, not the current year. Reserved-category candidates get relaxation under the 2022 contractual-hiring rules — check the official notification for the exact relaxations applicable to your category.

Application Fee (OTR)

The fee is collected through One Time Registration (OTR) on the SSO portal. Candidates already registered under OTR do not pay again.

CategoryFee
General / Unreserved candidatesRs. 600
Reserved category (EWS / OBC-NC / MBC-NC / SC / ST / SAH)Rs. 400
Divyangjan (PwD)Rs. 400
Application correction chargeRs. 100

Payment is online only — debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI and wallets — and the fee payment deadline is the same as the application deadline: 28 October 2026. Complete both the form and the payment before the deadline; a submitted form with unsuccessful payment is an incomplete application.

Pay — Read This Honestly Before You Apply

The contractual Safai Karamchari post carries an honorarium of Rs. 7,410 per month, fixed under the Labour Department’s notification dated 13 December 2024. This is contractual honorarium-level pay — it is not a permanent government salary with grade pay, increments and pension benefits. Go in with open eyes: this is a contract-based sanitation role under the 2022 contractual-hiring rules, and the pay reflects exactly that.

Selection Process — Lottery, Not an Exam

There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection runs through a lottery system, followed by document verification and a medical examination. The lottery list is prepared ULB-wise, which is another reason the one-ULB rule matters — your name goes into exactly one draw.

What the lottery means in practice: once the application window closes, the department draws names at random from eligible applicants per ULB. Being drawn does not equal appointment — your domicile, experience proof and other documents are verified next, and the medical examination follows. If your documents fail verification, your name drops out. So the real competition is not a question paper; it is getting your documents right. Keep your domicile certificate and experience proof ready now, not when the lottery result appears.

How to Apply Online (By 28 October 2026)

Applications go through the Rajasthan SSO portal (One Time Registration). The department’s own “Apply” button on the official Rajasthan Recruitment Portal routes candidates to the SSO login — complete your OTR there, then open the Recruitment Portal and select the “Contractual Safai Karamchari – 2026” listing:

  1. Register on the SSO Rajasthan portal and complete One Time Registration (OTR), selecting your category — Unreserved, or Reserved (EWS / OBC-NC / MBC-NC / SC / ST / SAH) — and disability status if applicable. Pay the OTR fee online if you are not already registered.
  2. Open the recruitment application for Rajasthan Safai Karamchari (Advt 01/2026) on the Rajasthan Recruitment / LSG portal.
  3. Choose exactly one Urban Local Body to apply against. Do not apply to multiple ULBs.
  4. Fill personal, domicile and experience details carefully, and upload the required documents (domicile certificate, experience proof, photograph, signature).
  5. Submit the form, verify that payment has succeeded, and save/print the final application for your records.

Two deadline warnings: portals slow down and payment gateways fail in the final hours — finish the form well before the evening of 28 October. And double-check your single ULB choice before submitting; a correction later costs Rs. 100, and an extra ULB application costs you the whole application.

Documents to Keep Ready

  • Rajasthan domicile (mool niwasi) certificate
  • One-year sanitation work experience proof (ULB)
  • Passport-size photograph and scanned signature
  • Category certificate (EWS / OBC / MBC / SC / ST), if claiming reserved fee or benefits
  • Disability certificate, if claiming Divyangjan concession
  • Age proof (as per notification’s accepted documents)
