OIL Geologist Recruitment 2026: 3 Posts, Walk-in 26 Nov & 3 Dec
CSIR’s Bhopal-based Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (AMPRI) has rolled out a fresh recruitment round for 14 posts under Advertisement No. RECT-02/2026 — and it is not one of those single-track openings. The vacancies span Technical Officers, a Security Officer and Security Assistant, four Technician (1) posts and a Multi-Tasking Staff slot, with qualifications ranging from 10th pass + ITI all the way up to M.Sc. and B.E./B.Tech. If you have been waiting for a central-government research institute posting outside the usual SSC/Railway cycle, this one deserves a proper read.
The detail that will decide whether your application even reaches the screening committee is the split deadline: this is not one window but two. Get it wrong and you will either apply too early (portal closed) or miss your date entirely. Here is the full, verified breakdown.

Post-Wise Vacancy, Pay & Age Limit
Fourteen posts sounds small until you look at the spread: five distinct cadres, reservation split, and — for a research lab — genuinely strong pay at the officer level.
| Post & code | No. of posts | Pay level / scale | Approx. monthly emoluments | Upper age limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Technical Officer (TO-01 to TO-05) | 07 (UR-06, SC-01) | Pay Level 7 (₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400) | ₹86,580 | 30 years |

| Security Assistant (SA-01) | 01 (UR-01) | Level-06 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) | ₹66,500 | 28 years |
| Technician (1) (TC-01 to TC-04) | 04 (UR-03, ST-01) | Level-02 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200) | ₹37,000 | 28 years |
| Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS-01) | 01 (UR-01) | Level-01 (₹18,000 – ₹56,900) | ₹33,650 | 25 years |
Total emoluments are the notification’s approximate figures at the minimum of the pay level in a Class ‘Y’ city, inclusive of Basic Pay, DA, HRA and TA. Age is counted as on the last date of submission of online applications for the respective post.
Who Can Apply — Post-Wise Eligibility
The eligibility bar is wide, deliberately so: from matriculates to postgraduates in material science. Match your code before you pay the fee — the fee is charged per post code, so applying for three codes costs ₹1,500.
| Post code | Essential qualification |
|---|---|
| TO-01 | M.Sc. in Material Science / Physics or equivalent, minimum 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) |
| TO-02 | MCA (Master of Computer Applications) or equivalent, minimum 55% marks |
| TO-03 | M.Sc. in Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Chemical Sciences or equivalent, minimum 55% marks |
| TO-04 | B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgy / Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent, minimum 55% marks |
| TO-05 | B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent, minimum 55% marks |
| SO-01 | Ex-serviceman JCO (Subedar or above) or equivalent in para-military forces (CRPF/BSF/ITBP etc.), with minimum 10 years’ experience in the security field |
| SA-01 | Ex-serviceman JCO or equivalent in para-military forces with minimum 5 years’ experience in security work |
| TC-01 to TC-04 | SSC/10th with Science (min. 55%) + ITI / National or State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade (Instrument Mechanic, Fitter, Machinist, Laboratory Assistant–Chemical Plant), OR 10th with Science + 2 years’ full-time apprentice training in the trade, OR 10th with Science + 3 years’ work experience in the trade in a Ministry/Department/PSU/Autonomous Body |
| MTS-01 | Matriculation / 10th standard or equivalent pass |
All applicants must be citizens of India. For the Technician trades, there is a genuinely applicant-friendly clause: if you do not have an ITI certificate, two years of apprentice training or three years of trade work experience in a government set-up count as valid alternatives. Many 10th-pass candidates miss this and self-reject — check the full route list in the notification before you assume you are ineligible.
Age Relaxation
Standard government relaxation applies: SC/ST get up to 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) up to 3 years, and PwBD up to 10 years (15 for SC/ST, 13 for OBC) on the upper age limit. Two finer points from the notification: ex-servicemen get relaxation per DoPT rules across all posts, and serving CSIR/Government department/Autonomous Body/PSU employees get an extra 5 years — but only for Technical Officer and Technician (1), not for MTS, Security Officer or Security Assistant. Departmental candidates for the security posts should plan for the standard limits.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS | ₹500 per post code |
| SC / ST / PwBD / Women / Ex-Servicemen | Nil (exempted on uploading relevant certificates) |
Payment is online through SBI Collect or the payment gateway, and the fee is non-refundable. The “per post code” wording is the part most applicants overlook: if you are eligible for both TO-04 and TO-05, that is two separate applications and ₹1,000. Note the transaction number and keep the e-receipt — you will need it while filling the form.
How to Apply Online
- Go to the official website ampri.res.in and open the recruitment link for Advt. No. RECT-02/2026.
- Register using your name, email address and mobile number.
- Pay the application fee online (₹500 per post code, if applicable) and note the transaction number and e-receipt.
- Log in to the online portal and fill the application form completely, upload documents and certificates, and submit before the last date for your post (06.11.2026 for TO/Technician; 16.11.2026 for SO/SA/MTS).
- Read the official notification carefully before applying — post-specific conditions, document formats and the trade-wise qualification alternatives are all spelled out there.
Remember the split window: the portal for Security Officer, Security Assistant and MTS becomes active only from 15.10.2026. Applying for the wrong window is not possible, but panicking on 7 October that “my link isn’t showing” is — the notification says the links are enabled only for their announced periods.
Selection Process
There is no single test pattern here — each cadre is assessed differently:
- Technical Officer: recommendation of the Screening Committee, followed by a qualifying Trade Test and a competitive Written Examination — Paper I (Mental Ability, 50 questions / 100 marks), Paper II (General Awareness & English Language, 50 questions / 150 marks) and Paper III (Concerned Subject). Only the trade test is qualifying; the written papers decide the merit.
- Technician (1): trade test and competitive written examination (pattern as notified for the post).
- MTS: a single-paper competitive written examination.
- Security Officer / Security Assistant: as per the assessment prescribed in the notification (physical tests and personality assessment may be part of the process).
Exam and trade test dates will be notified on the official website — the notification does not fix a calendar date yet, so keep checking ampri.res.in after you apply.
