The Catch Most Candidates Miss: Two-Step Application

This is the single most common mistake in GSL recruitments. Applying online is only step one:

The 9 fixed-term posts are contract roles — good pay, but not permanent employment. Decide what you are signing up for.

Eligibility and Age: Counted as on 30.09.2026

Each post has its own essential qualification, desirable qualification, and required experience. A few examples from the notification:

• Chief General Manager (Finance): Graduate + qualified CA/ICMA + minimum 23 years of post-qualification relevant experience.
• AGM/DGM (Naval Architecture): Full-time regular B.E./B.Tech in Naval Architecture + 16 years (AGM) / 13 years (DGM) experience in ship design, AVEVA Marine/Tribon, NAPA, AutoCAD, FEA software.
• Deputy Manager (Technical): Engineering degree in the relevant discipline + required experience; 7 vacancies — the largest single block.

Upper age limits (as on 30.09.2026) vary by post and category — roughly 33 years for UR/EWS Deputy Manager posts, going up to 54–57 years for the CGM grades, with standard relaxations for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD candidates. Check your exact post’s row in the notification.

Useful detail many miss: for posts 2 and 3 (Naval Architecture / Business Development / Technical CGM-GM grades), GSL reserves the right to offer a lower grade than applied for — so an AGM/CGM application can still land you the DGM/GM grade on merit. Aim without fear.
