NTPC Limited has opened online applications for Deputy Manager Recruitment 2026 — 9 experienced-engineer posts in Mechanical Erection, C&I Erection and Civil Construction under Advertisement No. 14/26. This is a Special Recruitment Drive (OBC), and it is emphatically not a fresher opening: the notification demands a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification executive experience, including 3 years of site experience in erection, maintenance or commissioning.

Eligibility: Branch, Marks and the 10-Year Gate

The degree requirement is straightforward; the experience requirement is the real filter. All qualifications must be full-time, from a university or institution recognised in India, and only Indian nationals may apply.

Three things about the experience clause that applicants usually misread:

1. Your trainee period counts. The notification says the 10 years include “training/trainee period, if any” — so graduate-engineer-trainee or management-trainee stints are not wasted years. Count them.

2. The sector list is closed, not illustrative. Experience must come from Power, Steel, Refinery, Fertilizer, Oil & Gas or Cement. A decade in, say, automotive or IT-adjacent engineering does not qualify, no matter how senior the title.

3. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee shortlisting. The notification is blunt: applications are screened on qualification and years of post-qualification experience, and “mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility would not bestow the right to be shortlisted.” The management also reserves the right to raise the minimum eligibility standards. With only 9 posts, expect the actual shortlist cut to sit well above the advertised minimums.

If you are in a PSU but below the E3-equivalent scale, or your employer will not issue an NOC in time, do not waste the application. The NOC is required at the application stage itself.

Age Limit

Upper age limit: 43 years for all posts. The notification computes age and experience “w.r.t. the last date of receipt of online application” — i.e. as on 30 October 2026. There is no separate cut-off date to remember: whatever your age is on the closing date is what counts.

Pay Scale: E4 Grade

Selected candidates join at E4 Grade / IDA pay scale of Rs. 70,000 – Rs. 2,00,000. For context, this is a genuine senior-executive entry — the kind of grade where PSU veterans lateral in, not where fresh graduates start. Allowances and benefits apply as per NTPC rules.
