PHHC Chowkidar Recruitment 2026: 22 Posts, Apply Online by 21 Nov

CMAAA Assam Chief Minister’s Fellow Recruitment 2026: 256 Posts, Apply by 14 Nov
The High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh has opened online applications for 22 Chowkidar posts on its own establishment. Employment Notice No. 06/CHK/HC/2026, dated 31 October 2026, keeps the window open till 21 November 2026 at 11:59 PM, and the entire process — application, admit card and interview schedule — runs through the High Court’s official website, highcourtchd.gov.in.
This is not a routine Class-IV vacancy notice. Two conditions in it catch out more applicants than any other: there is a maximum qualification as well as a minimum, and there is no written test at all. Read those two points carefully before you pay the fee, because the fee is non-refundable and no correction is allowed after submission.
Employment notice: 31 October 2026 | Online applications close: 21 November 2026, 11:59 PM | Interview date and venue: to be published on highcourtchd.gov.in
PHHC Chowkidar Vacancy Details 2026
The 22 posts are distributed across categories as below. The notice warns that the number may increase or decrease depending on the vacancies available on the date the merit list is prepared, so treat these figures as the notified position, not a guaranteed final count.
| Category | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| General Category | 19 |
| SC / ST / BC | 2 |
| Ex-Servicemen | 1 |
| Total | 22 |
Pay is not stated as a fixed amount in the notice. The notice says the post is governed by the latest Government of Punjab rules and instructions adopted by the High Court for its employees — so do not trust any salary figure quoted on social media posts about this vacancy; the official notification is the only reliable source.
The Qualification Ceiling: Graduates Cannot Apply
Most job notices set a minimum qualification and leave the top open. This one does the opposite. The minimum is Middle Standard and the maximum is 10+2, from a recognised School Education Board or recognised school. Every candidate must also file an affidavit declaring that their qualification is not above 10+2.
This is the single biggest rejection trap in this recruitment. A graduate, or anyone holding a higher qualification, is simply not eligible — and the notice warns that concealing a higher qualification can lead to criminal action and termination from service. If you have completed graduation, this vacancy is not for you, no matter how strong your application otherwise is. All eligibility conditions must be met on the last date of online submission, 21 November 2026.
Proof of date of birth is equally strict: only two documents are accepted — the Matriculation Certificate from a recognised Education Board (for candidates who are matriculate or above), or the Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths (for candidates qualified below Matric).
Age Limit and Relaxation
| Condition | Rule |
|---|---|
| Age as on 21 November 2026 | Not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years, for applicants of all categories |
| Ex-Servicemen | Upper age limit relaxed by the number of years of defence service plus 3 years |
Note that the Ex-Servicemen relaxation applies to Ex-Servicemen themselves. Reservation, fee and age benefits under the Ex-Servicemen category do not extend to their dependents — except one fee exemption explained below.
The Domicile Condition on Reservation
SC/ST/BC reservation and fee relaxation are available only to candidates who hold a certificate from Punjab, Haryana or U.T. Chandigarh and are domiciled or permanent residents there. An SC, ST or BC candidate from any other state must apply under the General Category and pay the General fee of Rs. 700. BC candidates must additionally not fall in the creamy layer, and their certificate must be the latest one. This is a common mistake: applying under a reserved category with an out-of-state certificate will not survive document verification.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General | Rs. 700 |
| SC / ST / BC | Rs. 600 |
| Ex-Servicemen | Rs. 600 |
| Dependents of Ex-Servicemen disabled or deceased during active operation | No fee |
The fee is paid online — through internet banking or a debit/credit card — and is non-refundable. Online transaction charges are extra. Dependents claiming the fee exemption must upload proof with the application and produce the original at the testimonials-checking stage or when called by the High Court.
Selection Process: Interview Only, 50 Marks
There is no written examination described in the notice. Selection rests entirely on performance in the interview, marked out of 50:
| Interview component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Suitability to the job | 25 |
| Etiquettes / manners | 25 |
| Total | 50 |
Depending on the number of applications, the High Court may follow a suitable shortlisting criterion, and candidates will be told about it at the appropriate time. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not by itself entitle an applicant to an interview call. The date, time and venue of the interview will be published on the High Court website, and original documents will be checked at the testimonials-checking stage.
The E-Admit Card link for provisionally eligible candidates will be uploaded on the website, and candidates will also receive an email or SMS. Admit cards are not sent by post. A photograph — attested by a Gazetted Officer or self-attested — must be pasted on the E-Admit Card, and it must match the photograph uploaded with the application, or entry to the venue will be refused. Mobile phones, other electronic devices, watches, ornaments and other baggage are not allowed at the interview centre. No TA/DA is paid for any stage of the recruitment.
How to Apply Online
The application link is available only on the High Court’s official website, highcourtchd.gov.in. Read the detailed employment notice before filling in the form, and keep these points in mind:
- Use a valid personal email address and mobile number, because recruitment updates are sent there. Do not change them after registration.
- Fill in all details, including the category. No change is allowed after submission — re-check everything before paying, because the fee is not refunded.
- Upload a recent passport-size photograph (not more than 30 days old, white background) and your signature. An application without a proper photograph and signature will be rejected.
- Upload scanned copies of any FIR or conviction/acquittal orders, and the document claiming fee relaxation as a dependent of an Ex-Serviceman, if these apply to you.
- Keep printed copies of the form, and keep five copies of the uploaded photograph for later stages.
- A candidate may submit only one application for a particular category. If more than one is submitted, only the latest will be considered.
Documents and Annexures to Keep Ready
The notice carries five annexures. Three of them — Annexures III, IV and V — must be attested by a Notary Public, so arrange these early rather than in the last days of the window:
| Document | Who needs it |
|---|---|
| Annexure I — declaration on creamy layer status | BC candidates |
| Annexure II — Forwarding Letter / NOC from the Head of Department | Candidates working in government or semi-government departments, corporations, boards or PSUs |
| Annexure III — affidavit on close relatives working in the High Court or District Courts of Punjab, Haryana or U.T. Chandigarh | All candidates |
| Annexure IV — affidavit on previous employment | Candidates with previous employment in government bodies or PSUs |
| Annexure V — affidavit that qualification is not above 10+2 | All candidates |
| Copy of application form with self-attested complete discharge book | Ex-Servicemen |
Regular government employees must obtain the NOC when applying and keep it with them; failure to produce the original when required cancels the candidature. Contract or ad hoc workers in government offices apply as non-departmental candidates. As per the service rules, a candidate with more than one living spouse (and the equivalent condition for women candidates) is not eligible for appointment — see the official notification for the full eligibility conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a graduate apply for the PHHC Chowkidar post?
No. The maximum qualification is 10+2, and applicants with anything higher are not eligible. An affidavit to this effect is mandatory.
How many of the 22 posts are for the General Category?
19 of the 22 posts are in the General Category, though the total may change by the time the merit list is prepared.
I am an SC candidate from outside Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Which category do I choose?
You must apply under the General Category and pay the General fee of Rs. 700, because reservation applies only to domiciles of Punjab, Haryana or U.T. Chandigarh.
What is the interview marked on?
Half of the 50 marks are for suitability to the job and half are for etiquettes/manners. There is no written test described in the notice.
Can I correct my application after submitting it?
No. Particulars, including the category, cannot be changed once filled, so check them before paying — the fee is non-refundable.
Will the High Court post my admit card?
No. You download the E-Admit Card from the High Court website; admit cards are not sent by post.

Apply well before the 21 November deadline — the notice gives no correction window, and a last-day server rush leaves no room to fix a rejected photograph or a wrong category selection. If any detail here differs from the official notification, the notification prevails.
