The wait is over for lakhs of defence aspirants. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the UPSC NDA 2 Result 2026 on 9 October 2026 — the written result of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2026. Candidates who cleared the written test will now head to the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, the next stage in the journey toward the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA’s 158th Course and the 120th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC), both commencing on 1 July 2027.

Here is the important part many candidates get wrong: this is not a name-wise merit list. The official PDF carries only roll numbers of qualified candidates — no names, no marks, no ranks. If you open the PDF and search for your name, you will find nothing. Search for your 7-digit roll number instead.

What the Result PDF Actually Contains (Read This First)

The official document is a press note with two things attached: the result declaration with registration instructions, and the roll number list. The roll numbers appear in roll-number order under separate headings for male and female candidates, so check the section that applies to you.

Three things the PDF does not contain: candidate names, marks, or a rank order. It is a qualified roll-number list, not a merit list. A second common confusion: your candidature is provisional — being on the list qualifies you for the SSB interview subject to the conditions in the press note.

How to Check UPSC NDA 2 Result 2026

No login is needed for the written result. Follow these steps:

The Two-Week SSB Registration Deadline — Do Not Miss It

This is the step where many qualified candidates trip. After the written result, you must register online on the Indian Army’s recruiting website, joinindianarmy.nic.in, within two weeks of the result announcement — unless you have already registered there earlier.

Here is the catch: the press note does not print a calendar date. It only says “within two weeks”. Counting from 9 October 2026, that takes you to 23 October 2026 — but that is our calculation, not UPSC’s wording, so confirm the deadline on the registration portal itself and register early rather than on the last day.

Documents You Must Carry to the SSB — and One Thing You Must NOT Do

The press note names two documents explicitly:

The press note does not list any other documents; follow the instructions in your SSB call-up communication for the complete checklist. And the one thing you must NOT do: do not send original certificates to UPSC. The originals go to the respective Services Selection Board during the SSB interview, not to the Commission. Candidates who courier documents to UPSC only delay their own process.

Marks and Cut-Off: When Will They Be Released?

If you are hunting for the NDA 2 cut-off or your individual marks right now — stop. UPSC releases marks and cut-off marks only after the entire process is over, that is, after the final result is declared. They are then kept on the website for 30 days.

Be careful with “cut-off” PDFs and videos floating around on social media claiming to show the NDA 2 2026 cut-off. UPSC has not released anything yet — any number you see now is someone’s guess. Wait for the official upload on upsc.gov.in.

NDA 2 2026: Exam Pattern and Selection Process

The written examination carried 900 marks across two papers: Mathematics (120 questions, 300 marks) and the General Ability Test (150 questions, 600 marks, split between English and General Knowledge). For the negative marking scheme, refer to the official exam notice — the result press note does not cover it.

The selection journey is: written examination → SSB interview → medical examination. The result declared on 9 October 2026 covers only the first stage.
