The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board has opened its biggest Class-IV hiring drive in years — 2,863 Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) and Sanitation Worker posts across the UT, both divisions and all 20 districts. Online applications start today, 14 October 2026, at jkssb.nic.in, and this one carries an unusual rule that will trip up a lot of candidates: the maximum qualification is 12th pass — graduates are not eligible at all.

How to Apply Online
- Go to the official JKSSB website jkssb.nic.in.
- Under the advertisement section on the homepage, open Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026 (dated 1 September 2026) along with the corrigendum — the corrigendum modifies the Annexure-A vacancy breakup and the dates, so both documents must be read.
- Fill the online application form with your details exactly as they appear on your certificates.
- Upload your photograph, signature and the required certificates (including the J&K Domicile Certificate).
- Pay the application fee online, review the form once, and submit. Save/print a copy of the final submission for your records.
Selection Process
Selection is through a written examination, followed by medical examination and document verification. The selection score is out of 100 — it combines written-test marks with additional weightage points. Weightage applies to home division/district candidates, candidates with no government-employed family member, widows/divorced/orphan girls and casual workers with 5+ years of service. Read the notification carefully to see which weightage applies to you. The exam date and venue will be notified separately on the official website.

- Applying with a degree: maximum qualification is 10+2 — graduates get rejected outright.
- Reading only the September notification: the October corrigendum changes the vacancy breakup and dates — skipping it means applying with stale information.
- No J&K domicile: without a valid domicile certificate (valid on/before 12 November 2026), you are not eligible.
