PGI Chandigarh MTS Recruitment 2026: 54 MTS Posts for 10th Pass — Apply Online Till 19 Oct

Post Date: 08 Oct 2026 Updated: 08 Oct 2026 By: Raju

Chandigarh’s biggest hospital is hiring in bulk — and 54 of the 60 posts need nothing more than a 10th-pass certificate. The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has released Advertisement No. PGI/RC/053/2026/2192 for 60 Group A, B and C posts — 57 at the main Chandigarh campus and 3 at the PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur. Online applications are open at pgimer.edu.in from 3 September and close on 19 October 2026.

The headline here is the 54 Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III posts: Matriculation is the entire educational requirement, the pay is proper Level-1 government scale (₹18,000–56,900), and — unusually for hospital recruitment — selection for these posts is through a Computer Based Test only, with no interview.

Key Dates — PGIMER Recruitment 2026 (Advt. PGI/RC/053/2026/2192)
• Online applications open: 3 September 2026
• Last date to apply: 19 October 2026
• Age reckoning date: 19 October 2026
• Exam date: to be announced on pgimer.edu.in

PGI Chandigarh Vacancy 2026 — Post by Post

Post Name Location Posts Pay Level / Scale
Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III PGIMER Chandigarh 54 Level 1 — ₹18,000–56,900
Library Attendant Grade-I PGIMER Chandigarh 1 Level 3 — ₹21,700–69,100
Animal Attendant PGIMER Chandigarh 1 Level 1 — ₹18,000–56,900
Barber PGIMER Chandigarh 1 Level 1 — ₹18,000–56,900
Medical Officer PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur 1 Level 10 — ₹56,100–1,77,500
Computer Programmer PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur 1 Level 7 — ₹44,900–1,42,400
Pharmacist Grade-II PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur 1 Level 5 — ₹29,200–92,300
Total 60

Note the split: all 57 Chandigarh posts are Group C; the 3 Sangrur posts are Group A (Medical Officer), Group B (Computer Programmer) and Group C (Pharmacist). Your exam centre, pay scale and selection stages all follow from which side of this split your post falls on.

Eligibility — What Each Post Needs

  • MTS (Sanitation) Grade-III (54 posts): Matriculation (10th pass) with knowledge of sweeping, dusting and cleaning. That is the complete requirement — no experience, no diploma.
  • Animal Attendant: Matriculation; ability to read and write Hindi/English/Punjabi, plus knowledge of cleaning and dusting.
  • Barber: Matriculation with at least two years’ experience in the trade.
  • Library Attendant Grade-I: Matriculation with Science, Diploma in Library Science, and one year of experience handling books and journals in a reputed library.
  • Pharmacist Grade-II: Matriculation, Diploma in Pharmacy, and registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
  • Computer Programmer: Master’s in Statistics/Mathematics/Operation Research/Physics, OR Engineering/Computer Science degree with one year of experience, OR bachelor’s in Mathematics/Physics/Statistics with seven years of experience.
  • Medical Officer: Medical qualification under the Indian Medical Council Act schedules, State Medical Council registration, and special training in Family Planning and educational methods.

Age: 18 to 30 years as on 19 October 2026 for all posts except Computer Programmer (18 to 35 years). Relaxation for reserved categories applies as per government rules.

Why the MTS Posts Deserve a Serious Look

1. Fifty-four posts, one qualification. Most 10th-pass recruitments split a handful of posts across trades. Here 54 of 60 posts share a single eligibility bar — Matriculation — which concentrates the opportunity instead of scattering it.

2. No interview for Group C. Selection for the MTS and other Group B/C posts is on CBT performance alone; only the Group A Medical Officer faces an interview. For a 10th-pass candidate, a written-only selection removes the most subjective stage of the process.

3. Real pay scale, not consolidated wages. Level-1 (₹18,000–56,900) with government allowances is a different proposition from the fixed ₹15,000–20,000 contractual MTS jobs that dominate this segment.

Application Fee

Category Fee
General / OBC / EWS ₹1,500
SC / ST ₹800
PwBD Exempted (nil)

The fee is paid online only, through the application portal. PwBD candidates pay nothing — but still complete the registration; exemption is not automatic without submitting the form.

Selection Process — CBT Only (Except Medical Officer)

Every post begins with an online Computer Based Test. After that, the paths diverge:

  • Medical Officer (Group A): CBT followed by an interview.
  • All Group B and Group C posts (including all 54 MTS): selection on CBT performance — no interview.

The qualifying bar is 40% for General/EWS and 35% for SC/ST/OBC candidates (PwBD as per their category). Where shortlisting is needed, the board calls three times the vacancies (five times where a skill test applies), plus tied candidates. No TA/DA is paid for attending any stage.

The practical read: with 54 identical MTS posts and a single written test deciding everything, this is a preparation game, not a connection game. The syllabus and pattern will be in the official notification — read it before you start preparing, not after.

How to Apply Online

  1. Go to the official PGIMER website, pgimer.edu.in, and open the recruitment section.
  2. Locate Advertisement No. PGI/RC/053/2026/2192 and read the full notification — confirm your post’s eligibility, age cut-off and fee before registering.
  3. Select your post and complete the online registration with a working mobile number and email ID.
  4. Fill in personal, educational, category and experience details exactly as per your certificates.
  5. Upload your photograph, signature and supporting documents in the prescribed size and format.
  6. Pay the applicable fee online (₹1,500 / ₹800; PwBD exempt), review everything, and submit before 19 October 2026.
  7. Save and print the final submitted application — you will need it at every later stage.

Documents to Keep Ready

  • Matriculation certificate (doubles as date-of-birth proof) plus all higher qualification certificates, diplomas and marksheets
  • Experience certificates on official letterhead, where the post requires experience
  • Caste/category certificate in the prescribed Central Government format (for reservation or relaxation claims)
  • Pharmacist registration certificate (Pharmacist post) / State Medical Council registration (Medical Officer post)
  • Recent passport-size photograph and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID or PAN)
  • Printout of the submitted online application

Mistakes That Cost Candidates This Recruitment

  1. Applying for the wrong location mentally. The MTS posts are at Chandigarh; the Medical Officer, Computer Programmer and Pharmacist posts are at Sangrur (Punjab). Posting preferences follow the advertisement, not your form.
  2. Missing the age cut-off date. Age is reckoned as on 19 October 2026, not 1 January — a subtle difference that decides eligibility for borderline candidates.
  3. Paying the wrong fee. Check your category before paying — ₹1,500 vs ₹800 vs nil — because the fee is tied to the category you claim.
  4. Waiting for the last day. The portal opened on 3 September; last-day server congestion on institutional portals is routine, and this one closes on 19 October with no extension promised.
  5. Skipping the notification. Post-wise experience wordings (Barber’s “two years in the trade”, Library Attendant’s “reputed library”) are verified at document stage — read the exact phrasing before you claim it.
