AIIMS Kalyani Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: 12 Posts, Apply Online by 9 November — Interview on 19–20 November

Post Date: 26 Oct 2026 Updated: 26 Oct 2026 By: Raju

AIIMS Kalyani has opened a short, sharp recruitment window for doctors who are already postgraduates and want a Senior Resident seat at an Institute of National Importance. There are only 12 seats, the application window closes on 9 November 2026 at 5:00 PM, and — unlike most government recruitments — there is no written examination at all. Selection is by interview alone, held in hybrid mode on 19 and 20 November 2026.

That combination makes this drive very different from a typical AIIMS vacancy notice. The real competition is not a test hall; it is the interview room, and the real filter is eligibility. Read the department-wise break-up and the reservation fine print carefully before you pay the fee, because the fee is non-refundable and a separate form — with a separate fee — is needed for every department you apply to.

Department-Wise Vacancies: Where the 12 Seats Actually Are

General Surgery alone accounts for a third of this drive. If your speciality is one of the smaller departments, the margin for error is almost zero — one seat in Microbiology means the interview panel is choosing a single candidate.

Department Vacant seats
Dermatology 2
Microbiology 1
General Surgery 4
Pharmacology 2
Pathology 3

The Reservation Detail Most Applicants Will Miss

The category break-up is given only for the total, not department by department: EWS 1, OBC 9, ST 2. There is no separately advertised UR seat in this notice. That does not mean unreserved candidates are shut out entirely — the notification says all candidates may apply against the EWS-earmarked post, but only if EWS applicants are not available, and then they are treated as UR candidates with no relaxations otherwise allowed to their own categories.

Two more conditions deserve attention. First, if no eligible candidate is found from an advertised category, candidates from other categories may be considered for interview against that category on a temporary basis. Second, 4% of the total vacancies are horizontally reserved for Persons with Disabilities (OPH–OL category) as permissible under the rules. And AIIMS reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies, so treat 12 as the advertised figure, not a guarantee.

Who Can Apply: Qualification and Age

The essential qualification is a postgraduate medical degree — MD, MS or DNB, or equivalent — in the respective discipline, from a recognised University or Institute, as provided under the Residency Scheme. Candidates with DM, MCh or DNB in the respective discipline are also covered by the notice. All terms and conditions of the Residency Scheme apply.

Timing matters here more than usual: qualification, experience and the maximum age limit are all counted up to the date the notification was published on the Institute website. If you did not hold the required qualification by that date, you will not be considered. Any prescribed experience is counted only after obtaining the prescribed qualification, and the qualification and experience must be recognised by the Government of India. A candidature found to hold an unrecognised qualification or experience can be cancelled at any stage.

The age ceiling is 45 years. Relaxation beyond the upper age limit is available as per DoPT instructions: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwD (OPH). Note the catch — no age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates applying for unreserved vacancies. Candidates already in service must take prior permission from their employer when applying, and must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.

Pay, Tenure and the Conditions of the Job

The post carries Level 11 of the Pay Matrix of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, plus Non-Practising Allowance for medical graduates, along with the usual allowances admissible to Central Government employees of similar status at Kalyani. The older scale quoted in the notice is Rs. 15,600–39,100 with Grade Pay Rs. 6,600 under the 6th CPC.

This is a whole-time tenure post on contract for a maximum of 3 years under the Central Residency Scheme, governed by the CCS (Temporary Service) Rules. Private practice of any kind is prohibited. Candidates are likely to be posted at the rural health centre and urban centre attached to the Institute for a period decided by the Institute. AIIMS will try to provide residential accommodation subject to availability, but campus housing is limited and may not be possible in every case; where it is not provided, HRA as admissible to Central Government servants of similar status stationed at Kalyani will be paid.

One practical condition is easy to overlook: only candidates who can join within fifteen days from the date the offer of engagement is issued should apply. If you are serving a notice period elsewhere, sort that out before you apply, not after the interview.

Application Fee: Paid by NEFT, Not by Card or UPI

This is the step where applications most often go wrong. There is no payment gateway in the form. The fee must be paid by NEFT to the AIIMS Kalyani Internal Resources Account, and the scanned payment receipt must be uploaded with the application. Applications without the prescribed fee are summarily rejected, and once paid, the fee is not refunded under any circumstances.

Category Fee
Unreserved / OBC Rs. 1,000
SC / ST / EWS Rs. 500
PWBD Exempted

NEFT details from the notification: Account Name — AIIMS KALYANI INTERNAL RESOURCES ACCOUNT; Account Number — 41277688529; IFSC — SBIN0063963; Bank — State Bank of India, AIIMS Kalyani Branch. Keep the receipt ready as a PDF scan before you start filling the form.

How to Apply, Step by Step

Applications are accepted only online, through the application portal (a Google Form) linked in the notification. No hard copy of the application will be accepted. The form is available until 9 November 2026, 5:00 PM.

1. Pay the application fee by NEFT and keep the receipt scan ready, along with scanned certificates as PDF files, a scanned photograph as an image file, and a scanned signature as an image file.
2. Open the online application portal and fill in the form before the deadline.
3. Choose your interview mode — online or offline — in the form itself. This choice is final and cannot be changed later, so decide before submitting.
4. Give a working phone number and email address for faster communication.
5. To apply for more than one department, fill a separate form and pay a separate application fee for each department.
6. Check every entry before submitting — incomplete applications will be summarily rejected, and canvassing of any kind will disqualify a candidate.

Interview Schedule: Hybrid Mode, 19–20 November

There is no written test. After candidates report, their applications and documents are verified, and then the interview is held. A merit list — selected and waiting — is prepared for all categories on the basis of the personal interview, and if a selected candidate does not join or resigns, the seat goes to the next candidate on the waiting list in order of merit. The final result will be displayed on the AIIMS Kalyani website.

Event Date / Venue
Notification date 24 October 2026
Online application closes 9 November 2026, 5:00 PM
Interview (online and offline reporting) 19–20 November 2026, from 9:30 AM onwards
Offline interview venue Academic Block-1, Ground Floor, Academic Section, AIIMS Kalyani — 741245

Only eligible candidates, as per the eligibility list uploaded on the Institute website, will be allowed to appear for the interview, and no personal communication will be made. If a candidate’s interview is not completed on the stipulated day, they may have to attend on the following day. No TA, DA or accommodation is paid for appearing in the interview. The joining link for the online interview will be shared with eligible candidates before the interview.

Documents You Will Need

For the online form: all certificates scanned as PDF files, a scanned photograph, a scanned signature, and the scanned NEFT payment receipt. For the interview day: self-attested copies of certificates and documents showing age, educational qualification and teaching or research experience; a caste or OH certificate in the prescribed format for SC/ST/OBC/OH/EWS candidates; a disability certificate signed by an authorised Medical Board and countersigned by the Medical Superintendent, CMO or Head of the Hospital or Institution for PwD/PWBD candidates; and an NOC from the present employer for candidates already in service. Only candidates with not less than 40% physical disability are eligible for reservation under the OH quota, and joining is allowed only after medical fitness certification by a duly constituted Medical Board.

Five Mistakes That Can Cost You This Seat

Paying the fee the wrong way. The form has no gateway. If you assume a card or UPI payment will work, your application will simply be incomplete — and the fee, once paid by NEFT, is never refunded.

One form for two departments. Each department needs its own form and its own fee. A single form covers a single department only.

Picking the interview mode casually. Online versus offline is chosen in the form and cannot be changed later. Decide based on where you will actually be on 19–20 November.

Missing the 15-day joining rule. If you cannot join within fifteen days of the offer, do not apply — the notice is explicit about this.

Assuming a written test will save a weak interview. There is no written test. The interview is the entire selection, and the waiting list moves strictly in order of merit.

Q. Can I apply for more than one department?
A. Yes, but with a separate form and a separate fee for each department.

AIIMS Kalyani is one of the new AIIMS set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana to correct regional imbalance in tertiary healthcare, and a Senior Resident tenure here carries the weight of an Institute of National Importance on your record. With only 12 seats and an interview-only selection, the candidates who win will be the ones who get the small print right — the NEFT receipt, the separate form per department, the final interview-mode choice — and then perform on the day. If that is you, apply before 5:00 PM on 9 November 2026, and keep checking the AIIMS Kalyani website for the eligibility list and any updates.
