Indian Coast Guard CGEPT Recruitment 2026: 365 Navik, Yantrik & Hygienist Posts — Apply Online by 21 Oct

Post Date: 14 Oct 2026 Updated: 14 Oct 2026 By: Raju

The Indian Coast Guard has opened applications for 365 Enrolled Personnel posts — Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik and Hygienist-I — for the CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. The window is short: online forms are accepted from 6 October (11:00 AM) to 21 October 2026 (5:30 PM), and there is no offline alternative.

But the single most important thing about this recruitment is where you apply. For the first time, the Coast Guard’s enrolled-persons recruitment is being conducted through the Staff Selection Commission — the form lives on ssc.gov.in, not on the Coast Guard’s own recruitment portal. Every year, thousands of defence aspirants land on the wrong website during the last week and panic. If you remember one line from this article, make it this one: CGEPT 2026 = ssc.gov.in.

Quick read: 365 tentative vacancies across two batches (01/2027: 190 posts, 02/2027: 175 posts). Apply online at ssc.gov.in between 6 Oct 2026 (11:00 AM) and 21 Oct 2026 (5:30 PM). Fee: Rs. 550 (SC/ST exempted). Navik (GD): 12th with Maths + Physics. Navik (DB): 10th pass. Yantrik: 10th + AICTE diploma. Female candidates are eligible for Navik (GD) only.

Vacancy Details — Batch-wise Break-up

The 365 vacancies are split across two batches, and the post mix is not the same in both. Check which batch carries the post you want before you apply:

Batch 01/2027 (190 posts) Gender Posts
Navik (General Duty) Male 117
Navik (General Duty) Female 13
Yantrik (Mechanical) Male 28
Yantrik (Electrical) Male 23
Yantrik (Electronics) Male 9
Batch 02/2027 (175 posts) Gender Posts
Navik (General Duty) Male 117
Navik (General Duty) Female 13
Navik (Domestic Branch) Male 25
Hygienist-I Male 20

Note that the vacancy count is marked tentative in the notification — the final number can change. Navik (GD) alone accounts for 260 of the 365 posts, so it is the main opportunity for 12th-pass candidates.

Why the SSC route changes everything: until now, Coast Guard enrolled-persons applications went through the Coast Guard’s own portal. This cycle, SSC conducts the entire process — application, Stage-I exam and beyond. That means: (1) you need an SSC account on ssc.gov.in, not a Coast Guard login; (2) the application format, photo/signature specifications and fee payment follow SSC’s conventions; (3) all updates — admit cards, results, stage schedules — will appear on the SSC website and your SSC dashboard, communicated by email/SMS. Do not wait for updates on the old Coast Guard recruitment site.

Eligibility — Qualification and Age (Post-wise)

Eligibility is defined by date-of-birth windows, not by a single age number — and the window is different for each post. Read your row carefully:

Post Qualification Date of birth must fall between
Navik (General Duty) 12th pass with Mathematics and Physics from a COBSE-recognized board 01 Nov 2005 – 01 May 2009
Navik (Domestic Branch) 10th pass from a COBSE-recognized board 01 Nov 2005 – 01 Oct 2009
Yantrik 10th pass + 3/4-year diploma in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics / Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering, AICTE-approved 01 May 2005 – 01 May 2009
Hygienist-I Matriculation OR ITI or equivalent 01 Nov 2002 – 01 Oct 2009

Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, as per rules. Only Indian citizens can apply.

Two traps hidden in this table: first, the Yantrik window starts six months earlier (May 2005) than the Navik (GD) window — a candidate born in, say, August 2005 is eligible for Yantrik but not for Navik (GD). Second, Navik (GD) needs Physics and Maths specifically in 12th — a 12th-pass candidate from commerce or arts stream does not qualify for GD, but can still apply for Navik (DB) with a 10th certificate.

For Female Candidates — Read This First

Female candidates are eligible for Navik (General Duty) only — 13 posts in each batch, 26 in total. Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I are male-only in this cycle. If you are a female aspirant, there is no point filling the form for any other post; the system will not accept it.

Zone-wise vs All-India — The Navik (GD) Catch

Navik (GD) male recruitment is zone-wise (North, West, East, South and Central zones). You must apply under the zone you belong to — applying under the wrong zone is one of the commonest reasons for rejection at document verification. Navik (GD) female, Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I are recruited on an All-India basis, with no zone restriction. Check the notification’s zone mapping for your state before selecting.

Selection Process — Four Stages

  1. Stage-I: Computer Based Test (early/mid November 2026, tentative).
  2. Stage-II: Physical Fitness Test, assessment test, document verification and medical examination (end February 2027, tentative).
  3. Stage-III: Final verification at INS Chilka (early May 2027 for the 01/2027 batch; mid October 2027 for the 02/2027 batch).
  4. Stage-IV: Final medicals and enrolment formalities, followed by training at INS Chilka.

On medicals: the Coast Guard’s standards are strict, and Navik (GD) requires 6/6 vision without glasses. Candidates who wear spectacles should read the notification’s medical standards section before investing weeks in preparation — this is a hard filter, not a guideline.

Application Fee

Category Fee
General / OBC / EWS Rs. 550/-
SC / ST Nil (exempted)

Pay online only — net banking, debit/credit card or UPI — before 5:30 PM on 21 October 2026. A short application-correction window is normally announced on the portal after registration closes; watch your SSC dashboard rather than assuming dates.

How to Apply Online

  1. Go to www.ssc.gov.in between 6 October 2026 (11:00 AM) and 21 October 2026 (5:30 PM). Do not use the old Coast Guard recruitment portal — the form is not there.
  2. Complete your one-time registration on the SSC portal if you do not already have an account, then open the CGEPT 01/2027 & 02/2027 application link.
  3. Choose your batch and post carefully — and for Navik (GD) male, your zone. These choices cannot be casually changed later.
  4. Fill personal, educational and category details exactly as per your certificates. Your date of birth must fall inside your post’s window (table above).
  5. Upload a recent photograph and signature in the SSC-prescribed format and size.
  6. Pay the fee online (Rs. 550; SC/ST exempted) and submit before 5:30 PM on 21 October — the portal closes sharply.
  7. Save and print the final application for your records. Check your registered email and SMS regularly — the Coast Guard/SSC communicates admit-card and stage updates only through these channels.
Mistakes that get CGEPT applications rejected: applying on the wrong portal (the old Coast Guard site has no form this cycle); picking the wrong zone for Navik (GD) male; a date of birth outside your post’s specific window; glasses-wearers applying for Navik (GD) without checking the vision standard; uploading a photo/signature that does not meet SSC’s size specs; and the classic — waiting until the evening of 21 October, when server load peaks and the 5:30 PM cutoff is absolute.

Pay and Benefits

Navik posts are placed in Level-3 of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 21,700 basic), while Yantrik starts at Level-5 (Rs. 29,200 basic) plus Yantrik pay of Rs. 6,200 per month — a meaningful gap that diploma holders should weigh before defaulting to a Navik application. On top of basic pay come DA, allowances, free medical facilities, accommodation (as per rules) and the usual armed-forces benefits. For a 12th-pass or ITI/diploma candidate, few government entries match this package at this age.
